Global monitoring report on the status of action against commercial sexual exploitation of children: EGYPT

2008
Anglais

Auteurs : End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and the Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes(ECPAT)

This report emphasizes the crucial role of governments in protecting children’s rights and preventing commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). It acknowledges the varied efforts of governments in implementing the Agenda for Action but underscores the persistent challenges and violations occurring with impunity in many countries, as indicated in the country profiles. Focused on Egypt, the report aims to establish a baseline of actions and gaps in addressing CSEC, facilitating systematic progress assessment based on the Agenda for Action. Additionally, it seeks to enhance international mechanisms such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Optional Protocol to combat child exploitation. The report also encourages the exchange of knowledge among countries and stakeholders to foster a collaborative dialogue against CSEC. Despite achievements over the past decade, substantial gaps persist, necessitating urgent global action for the protection of children. The project is the outcome of extensive collaboration, with ECPAT International expressing gratitude to contributors, member groups, local experts, organizations, staff, volunteers, and generous donors for their crucial support. Detailed acknowledgments are available in the Regional Report.
