The ‘Foster and Improve Integration of Trafficked Persons’ (FIIT) project focuses on enhancing the long-term integration of non EU citizens in EU member states who are victims of trafficking in five EU Member States: Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Through desk research, interviews, and case country assessments, the study identifies and shares good practices in legal, economic, and psychosocial integration, aiming to strengthen professional networks. The research addresses the asymmetrical situation of trafficked persons and challenges assumptions about their preferences for return and reintegration. Despite limitations in victim interviews, the qualitative findings emphasize the need to adapt broader immigrant integration thinking to trafficked persons, providing valuable insights and recommendations for policy improvements. The report outlines key concepts, analyzes existing frameworks, presents comparative country findings, and draws conclusions based on empirical material, contributing a nuanced understanding of the integration challenges faced by trafficked individuals.
